This is my weekly jewelry project for Year of Jewelry week 18. I made it for a dear friend who is having a special anniversary this Sunday. She loves green.  I used Eni Oken's ring tutorial. The first ring I made was not strong enough so I made this one with 16 gauge wire, instead of 18, for the band and 20 gauge, instead of 22, for the spirals, and 26, instead of 28, for the wrapping. I made the spirals larger so they held the stone better.  I also soldered the band in a few strategic places.  I am much happier with the ring and it is much stronger.

The "stone" is a glass bead I made using a torch and Effretre glass with frit. It is about 18 mm in diameter. I ground down the back so it is flatter and that also makes it more stable. The wire and beads are all sterling silver.

I learned a lot with this project. I am just not happy with only wire wrapping. I learned to make jewelry the old fashioned way with soldering. I am happier when I know the key points are not likely to come apart.
